moveme goes to the dogs!

stadium And the winner is… well, none of my dogs, anyway :(

Yes, to celebrate our recent Series A funding round, our lovely Director’s organised for us to have an evening out at the Dog Races at Wimbledon Stadium.

Frederic Court and Therese

Once we were all there, so the fun began! I was in charge of the photography (so apologies for the all the red-eye in the photos) and we have a load of smashing photo’s on Flickr. We were all given £20 worth of Tote’s to bet with over 13 races - fab! There was an open bar and a buffet, with the most gorgeous food you could ask for (if you are a fan of Indian and vegetarian food, which I am). There were many laughs, hugs and a roomful of flowing conversation - and we got a chance to meet one of investing partners, Frederic Court of Advent Venture Partners :)

Beer flowed, food was consumed, and as I observed from the edges, armed with my camera, I thought how lovely it is that we can, as colleagues, socialise outside of the offices, and get on like the best of friends. The atmosphere was lovely, and I know we all had a wonderful time!

However, when it comes to the races themselves… well, as I mentioned before, I didn’t win a penny. But I suppose that is what you get for picking out the dogs with the nicest names! It wasn’t all doomed though; as Sean and his wife recently found they were to be expecting a baby boy, he backed ‘Baby Blue’. All us cynics told him it would come fourth - but in first place it came! I suppose that’s what you get for challenging the betting tactics of a man who backed Betfair! We should have known…

Oh… I almost forgot - moveme.com also sponsored 3 races! I certainly enjoyed presenting the trophies to the dogs, they were just gorgeous. It was also a really great photo opportunity, but I think the dogs steal the show :)

After the races had come to and end, we gathered ourselves up and moved on to a club in good old Wimbledon. Thanks to all the suppliers, investors and agencies that came… I’d thank you for the dancing too, but… well, I’m not a very good liar.

the morning afterCharlie looking great the morning after

Unfortunately, despite the fact I would have loved to discuss last nights events with all my colleagues this morning, I think there may have been a bug going around. Strange really, that so many would call in sick on the same day…

All in all, a wonderful night with wonderful people:

Final Note:

I would just like to add that, as I personally view and reply to 99% of all Love It/Hate It/Ideas/Help comments sent through to us, I would like to say how much your views and opinions are appreciated. We are trying to re-invent home moving - and, in an age of technology and knowledge, it seems the process of moving home is a bit of an anachronism. If you can do even the most complex thing online, shouldn’t you be able to access home-moving information at your fingertips?!

Without your views, comments, ideas and support, moveme.com wouldn’t be where it is now - so keep it coming!

Over and out.
