Council tax revaluation


Rumour has it that our homes, amenities and lifestyles could soon be under scrutiny by a virulent new breed of Government council tax inspector – intent on upping bills. The claims focus on the creation of a ‘snoopers charter’ through which surreptitious changes to the way England’s 22 million homes are valued will be enforced; effectively taxation by stealth.

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) – the government agency responsible for valuing homes for council tax banding – has strongly refuted the claim that inspectors will be given extended powers to push through new valuations, stating that: “Contrary to press reports, there is absolutely no change being made to the existing basis of valuation to increase the amount of council tax paid”.

Tips for Stress Free Unpacking


The removal van has left, you’re in your new home at last and now it’s time to unpack. Where to start?!istock_000004434241xsmall.jpg

Despite having carefully labelled all the boxes and crates it can still be a daunting proposition; just remember it doesn’t have to be done all in one go.

Follow these tips and unwind at leisure!

Have an emergency box of essentials to hand: basic toiletries, torch, loo paper, tool kit, kettle, coffee, snacks, corkscrew and children’s favourite toys. These should be the first items to be offloaded.
